Description

This is what happens when we watch videos in Health class. I have a flag one I should finish up to...but that one looks kinda weird without colours. I have a coloured version of this on my easel, but I'm too lazy to scan.

Anyways, I felt like doing something symbolic, so this is an outline of my hand when it's lying relaxed, filled with some sketches that hold meaning to me.

The first thing to point out is the wing, I have a fascination with all things that fly or glide, to the point where it's almost obsessive.

Second is the pencil, which shows my willingness to create, be it with words or art. I have PARAGRAPHS on why a pencil can represent me, but I won't bore you with it.

Thirdly comes the blade, I adore carving, though the knives used for that look nothing like the one I've drawn. I'm also drawn to history, which leads me into the subject of war quite often, meaning swords and daggers many a time. It's also my well-known sharp tongue, and my tendency to physically move people out of my way.

Fourth is the flower, which was meant to be an aster, but I didn't have a reference. Aster's symbolize loyalty and quiet longing for change, I'd like to consider myself loyal, and I want change, though I don't go about it quietly. Aster also happens to be the first name of one of my characters, and an older nickname of mine.

Next is the eighth note up on the middle finger. It's a bit off for what I play in band, since the Baritone/Euphonium section rarely has a lot of eighth notes, but it's more recognizable than a quarter, whole, or half note. In choir, I sing Soprano, which means a lot of eighth notes as well. I don't know what I'd do without music, I'm always drumming my fingers or humming, or playing songs over in my head, or else I can't concentrate on anything.

After that is the cut, dribbling blood, which is both my tendency to injure myself, and my affection for writing excessively violent literature, or describing the aftermath in gruesome detail. Sounds pleasant, eh? But I do have an affinity for hurting myself doing stuff that seems quite safe. Like walking. Or sleeping. But dangerous things I'm fine with.

Second to last, the flags, which are really just a representation of my homeland and my heritage. Both sides of my family are from the UK, my mother's is from Northern Ireland, my father's from England. I, of course, as well as my siblings, parents, and my grandparents, were all born and raised in Canada. My siblings and I in the west, my parents generations and earlier in the east.

Finally is the vines, which were an afterthought, mostly to fill space. They DO however, help show that I AM in fact someone who enjoys time in the outdoors, though my personal favourite season is actually winter.
